4 Steps For Minors To get A Driver's License

In order to mitigate motor vehicle collisions involving teenagers, a specialized "provisional" driver license (DL) and instruction permit are allocated to individuals under the age of 18. To acquire a provisional instruction permit, the following criteria must be met:

The applicant must be at least 15 1/2 but under 18 years old.Complete the Driver License or Identification Card Application (DL 44) form, which includes providing your social security number if eligible.Obtain the signatures of parents or guardians on the DL 44 form. In cases where both parents or guardians have custody, signatures from both are required.Submit a valid birth date/legal presence document or identity document.Further details can be found in the California Driver Handbook or on the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) website at www.dmv.ca.gov.Furnish a certificate of completion of driver education or proof of enrollment in an integrated driver education/driver training program offered by the instructing school.

Step 1: Driver's Ed

Enroll in our drivers' education program, where various options, including behind-the-wheel training, are available for selection. Our course is mobile friendly so you can study the course from anywhere. Behind the wheel is mandatory for minors to validate the driver's permit.

Step 2: Driver's Permit

Upon the successful conclusion of drivers' education, our office will furnish the student with a certificate of completion. This certificate can then be presented to the DMV for the purpose of scheduling a permit test. Often this test can be taken as a walk-in. Step 3: Train Behind the Wheel

Upon acquiring a driver's permit, students are eligible to enroll in behind-the-wheel training, an instructional program designed to assist them in successfully completing their driver's training. DMV requirements for minors consist of a minimum of 6hrs with a driving school and 50 hrs. with a licensed driver 25+ years old. 10 of the 50 hrs. must be at night.

Step 4: Schedule My Behind-the-Wheel Drive Test with DMV
